If you were to drive by Amory High School on any given afternoon, you’d likely see an array of spring semester sports practicing for their various games, matches, and meets. The baseball and softball teams will be hitting balls and practicing infield drills, the tennis team practicing their backhands, members of the track team will be jumping hurdles on the football field, the archery team likely focusing on their targets, the powerlifting team maxing out on the bench, and across town, the golf team will be hitting balls on the green. Athletic Director Chad Williams shared his excitement for this semester. “All of the spring sports at Amory are going really well. Tennis just won the division, track just competed and did well in their division, and golf has their district meet next week. Baseball had a slow start, but they’re picking up the pace now, and softball is seeing the best start that they’ve had in the past couple of years. We have athletes from powerlifting and archery both going to their state championships in the coming weeks. This has been a really successful time for Amory High School spring athletics.” A full schedule of sporting events can be found at https://amoryschools.com/asd-athletics/.
