Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to be one of the top swimmers in your state? Some of Amory’s elite swimmers think about this every year when they go to the North Half competition each year. While the competition is normally held at Delta State University, this year, due to Covid-19, it has been moved to the Tupelo Aquatic Center in Tupelo. The swimmers that qualify for this meet have to have a certain time in which they swim their various events. For example, Jurdan May has qualified in his 100-meter backstroke the past three years and has made it to state in this event. Both boys and girls relay teams have made it to North Half as well. Their new coaches Mrs. Mistie Durham and Ms. Carole Jones could not be more pleased with the team that they had this year. The team has had a lot of ups and downs, but they have managed to pull through and make it to the North Half Swim Meet. The meet took place Friday, October 16.
