Making History

By Mary Grace Black  The Prowl News

On Wednesday, October 7, the AHS Volleyball team made school history by clinching the Division Championship for Region 4-3A in a game against Choctaw County.  The varsity team won the game 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-16).  Although the team has had to face many obstacles such as losing a Senior starting middle and outside hitter, Jillian Cox, and navigating playing in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, they showed that they could prevail against all odds.  If you ask any of the players, coaches, or managers, they would tell you that there is something special about this year’s team.  The 2020-2021 AHS Volleyball Team has the ability to make history again when they play Alcorn Central in the first round of playoffs at home on Tuesday, Tuesday, October 13 at 6:30.  No team in Amory High School history has ever made the second round of volleyball playoffs, and this year’s team could be the first.
