Food For Thought

By Ally Thompson  The Prowl News

“There’s pizza for breakfast, Miss Thompson!” Ms. Chambers, a teacher at Amory High School, exclaimed as I walked to my first period class. “Go get you some pizza! It’s free!”

Without another word, I entered the cafeteria (as any sane person should do if there is free pizza inside). The lunch ladies smiled from behind their masks and pointed to the styrofoam trays of food in front of me. As I walked to my class, smiling when I heard Ms. Chambers calling out to another student, I thought about the time and effort the kitchen staff puts into their food every day. And the food is free! Students can now receive free breakfast and lunch without worrying about going home hungry on days with no school. During these uncertain times, it is important to not take anything for granted! So, next time you’re in the cafeteria, thank the staff for all that they do!
